My first little nugget is growing up so fast. Mekhi, my nephew will be turning 2 this year. Although his birthday is in December, I am starting to brainstorm for his birthday gift. I have a few ideas in mind, but the one thing I know for sure is that it is going to be handmade. His "Welcome To The World" gift was a plush tool set. I was really please with how it turned out because it was the very first plush set I've ever made.
I embroidered "Mekhi's Tool Box" and made a little storage bag for all his tools. I copied the images from a coloring page that I found on google. The backing for the tools is the same fabric that the bag is made from. For Meki's first birthday my husband and I gave him some veggi tales books (I always give at least one book for a gift) and I playschool forest toy. I really wanted to make his first birthday gift, but I was too busy making his little brother's "Welcome To The World" gift.

I made Ezra alphabet tiles from scrap fabric I had in my bin. I absolutely LOVED how they turned out. I can't seem to find my photo of them. I think I took it with my husbands phone. I will post a photo of them later tonight. I also have to start thinking of Ezra's 1st birthday gift as well. These two nuggets are about 1 year and 11 days apart, which means their birthdays are 11 days apart AND during the Christmas season....AND CHRISTMAS GIFTS, I have to start thinking about those as well. I guess my mind knew I had to start early. Four handmade gifts (2 Christmas and 2 birthday). Anyway, I was thinking about making an
I Spy Book for Mekhi for one of his gifts. I was alos thinking of possibly making some
homemade blocks for one of Ezra's gifts. I am still thinking about the other two gifts for the boys. If you have any suggestions, I will gladly hear them.
Until my next post, enjoy life and go fly a kite...
