Sproutlings
In only about five days, our garden is already coming to life. I've prepared watermelon, carrots, peas, beans, radishes, corn, and onions. In only five days, they have sprouted. I can't believe it is happening so fast. I can't wait to put them into the ground and watch them grow....and then the best part: eating them.
Are you planting a garden this year? What are you going to grow?

85 Years Looks Good On You
My dad found this vintage 1928 Singer sewing machine in the dumpster at work a while back...THE DUMPSTER!!!! Are you kidding me? Who would let this beautiful gem have an eternal resting place next to last year's freezer burned pork chops at the landfill??? I was overly joyed when my dad brought this to me. I have created a few projects with it, but I have not ventured into using the additional feet that I found in the little drawer on the side.
This sewing beauty even comes with a lid and handle. I can't believe that this was free. 85 years old and the machine still works perfectly and is in wonderful condition.
Have you ever found a gem in the trash?????
Until my next post, enjoy life and go fly a kite....

A Future Little Ring Master
My Mekhi, my nephew, turns three (December 2013) I would love to make him this little pocket circus!! He will be two this December and I am thinking of making him an i-spy book with pictures of toys and nature and people he knows; I don't think he will be ready at the age of 2 to enjoy this little gem. I found this pocket circus here and it just looks so lovely. I think I will use wooden peg people instead of the directions on the website, though. Little boys can be rough with their toys. I can't wait to have children of my own so I can make all kinds of homemade goodies for them to enjoy, Until then, I will live vicariously through my sister-in-law and her beautiful little boys.
Until my next post, enjoy life and go fly a kite...
Growing Up So Fast
My first little nugget is growing up so fast. Mekhi, my nephew will be turning 2 this year. Although his birthday is in December, I am starting to brainstorm for his birthday gift. I have a few ideas in mind, but the one thing I know for sure is that it is going to be handmade. His "Welcome To The World" gift was a plush tool set. I was really please with how it turned out because it was the very first plush set I've ever made.

I embroidered "Mekhi's Tool Box" and made a little storage bag for all his tools. I copied the images from a coloring page that I found on google. The backing for the tools is the same fabric that the bag is made from. For Meki's first birthday my husband and I gave him some veggi tales books (I always give at least one book for a gift) and I playschool forest toy. I really wanted to make his first birthday gift, but I was too busy making his little brother's "Welcome To The World" gift.
I made Ezra alphabet tiles from scrap fabric I had in my bin. I absolutely LOVED how they turned out. I can't seem to find my photo of them. I think I took it with my husbands phone. I will post a photo of them later tonight. I also have to start thinking of Ezra's 1st birthday gift as well. These two nuggets are about 1 year and 11 days apart, which means their birthdays are 11 days apart AND during the Christmas season....AND CHRISTMAS GIFTS, I have to start thinking about those as well. I guess my mind knew I had to start early. Four handmade gifts (2 Christmas and 2 birthday). Anyway, I was thinking about making an I Spy Book for Mekhi for one of his gifts. I was alos thinking of possibly making some homemade blocks for one of Ezra's gifts. I am still thinking about the other two gifts for the boys. If you have any suggestions, I will gladly hear them.

Chalkboard-palooza
I told Neal that I really wanted to have a wall full of chalkboards. He surprised me when these two gems appeared at the house...
As I was taking the pictures of the boards Neal slid on the floor into the picture, he is such a goober sometimes. The first chalkboard has a really nice wooden frame and ledge to hold the chalk. It was not sandblasted or treated in any way so when you erase the chalk, there is some chalk residue that remains. Second chalkboard is a piece of slate that weighs A LOT. It doesn't have a frame but it was sandblasted so it is super smooth and when you erase, EVERYTHING comes off. It is easily my favorite board out of all that I have (3). Thank you for the great gifts Neal!!!!!

A Great Way To Spend Our "Six Years Together" Anniversary
Today my husband, Neal, and I went to the flea market. I was so excited because I wanted to start looking for some things to put into my i spy table. We started the morning by stopping for a bagel and then we were on our way. When we arrived it was pretty cold and wet, but we didn't let that hinder our enjoyment. Very quickly I found something that made me smile. It was a Happy Days board game. It was only $5. I had to let it stay because I knew that no one would want to play. I continues down the walk and came across these beauties...
These are hand carved little animals. I think I am in love with the care that was put into the elephant but I also love the spots on the cheetah. I can't wait until I have children so they will be able to enjoy playing with these little works of art.

I got all four of these gems for only $1 for all four. Also in the box were these two little vases. The base is about the diameter of a penny. I think they might work well in my i spy table.
Until my next post, enjoy life and go fly a kite!

I would say that today's flea market adventure was a success. I can't wait to go again!!

Plans For Future Crafts
I have been spotting poured resin tables on the internet lately and I am very excited to make one myself. I would like to make a set of night stands for my bedroom. I am thinking of using paper dolls with a 1940's theme. I will use the man doll and his clothes for my husband's night stand and the woman and her clothes for my night stand. I am so excited about it. I also am thinking about making a playroom table (for the children I don't have yet) with a bunch of vintage items. I will fill it to capacity and turn it into an i spy table! I will have a book with a photo of each item in order to play. I am going to the flea market tomorrow (for my husband and my 6 year together anniversary) to pick up some pieces for the i spy table! I will have a post of the project when I actually do it....eep.
Until my next post, enjoy life and go fly a kite!
